Single SignOn-APIs von Yahoo und Microsoft

Ob es wohl ein Zufall ist, dass sowohl Yahoo als auch Microsoft innerhalb weniger Tage angekündigt haben, ihre Single-Sign-Ons per API auch für andere Entwickler freizugeben? Ich glaube nicht.
